Cajun Cravings!

I am so happy. I discovered my local supermarket carries boudin! it's one of the few things I miss from when we were stationed in Louisiana. That, and the black squirrels. I had never seen a black squirrel before, and the squirrels over there are huge. Some of them look like housecats. I didn't get to take pictures of them, regrettably. So tomorrow, it's probably going to be crawfish etoufee, boudin, and red beans and rice. Wish I could get my hands on Lyndsey Buckingham's "Jambalaya" for some diner music. That version is the one that appears on the Steel Magnolias soundtrack, and I can't seem to find it anywhere else. Add this to the fact that the soundtrack is out of print, and I am completely out of luck.

I wonder if the supermarket has gator. Gator is delicious, and having lived in SoFla, I would rather eat these guys before they eat me!

Anime Wish List

Those of you who know me know I am an anime nut. I have decided to keep a list here of all the anime I want to purchase in the not so distant future. They appear on the list in no particular order:

Hell Girl
Naoki Urasawa's Monster
Inuyasha
Oh My Goddess
Chevalier d'Eon
Wolverine

I already own:

Gankutsuou
RahXephon
Outlaw Star
Fruits Basket
Argentosoma
Vexelle
Appleseed
Appleseed Ex Machina

My Most Beautiful Poppy

This poppy is my favorite! Its beautiful color is a resplendent sight early in the morning.  I will definitely have to plant more of these.  I have had pink poppies and white ones, but this quite honestly the most beautiful by far.

Memorial Day Makeover

I have been bothered by the attempts to commercialize Memorial Day.  As such, I have decided to boycott buying stuff on sale today and spend a quiet weekend at home with my family.

I am using this time to catch up on housework and reorganize my closet. I have lost so much weight that I am having to get rid of clothes left and right. I wish I could give them away, but these clothes are in bad shape, so they are only fit for the garbage.

Lemons to Lemonade

Today is my wedding anniversary, and my husband and I are spending it on opposite sides of the globe. I miss him, but dwelling on how much I miss him won't make an unpleasant situation any better.

In light of this, I have decided to take today off and not do housework. Instead, I plan to have a few beers and watch anime. First up, Naoki Urasawa's Monster. Twenty-five minutes in, and it's looking good so far.

I got my congratulatory phone call and even got to see Tony. Not perfect, but just enough. Enough to keep going.
